What is a Risk Assessment Analysis?

A risk assessment analysis is used to identify risk factors in a facility and determine interventions for controlling risks of Legionnaires’ Disease. This type of systematic analysis is used to determine hazardous conditions in the building water system. Proactive risk assessments are intended to help in the development of a water management plan.

Facility Risk Assessments

Facility risk assessments should be performed by a person knowledgeable and highly trained in waterborne pathogens and Legionella bacteria. The newest certification to denote these qualifications is the ASSE 12080 Legionella Water Safety and Management Specialist. Our team boasts a roster full of ASSE 12080 Certified Legionella Specialists which ensures we can help with any situation that may arise.  

During this type of assessment, no water samples are taken. The individual performing the assessment reviews the building water system design, occupant information and history to help determine the possibility of Legionella colonization.

Onsite Risk Assessment

An onsite risk assessment involves a building walk-through as well as water sampling. This type of assessment provides a water management program team with the most up to date information concerning potential Legionella and other opportunistic waterborne pathogen risks, water system deficiencies and clinical concerns. Water samples are used to determine Legionella and physiochemical baseline levels within the water system as well as the overall health of the water system. This type of assessment can also help adjust and correct your water management plan as needed.
